Lockdowns and closed skies have turned deliveries into a means of communication with the outside world - a single supply line to the front during a siege. At the same time, by chance or not, Unboxing videos have become a phenomenon. The internet is bursting with videos centered on a person opening a package. There's no critique or impression here; the focus is simply the act of opening a package that arrived from Amazon, AliExpress, or an unknown Kickstarter. But why film such a thing? Why watch it? What's the thrill? And what human mechanism operates all of these? It's time to strip down the technical process of packaging, shipping, opening, filming, and bubble wrap, and expose the one true need behind them all: the need for connection.
